Sensitive Skin Types

What should I do if my skin is sensitive?

Skin sensitivity is is a tough one, since there are many reasons why one would be sensitive.

It is important to determine whether you are sensitive or sensitized –there is a difference.

Sensitive skin is a genetic condition and a person with sensitive skin generally blushes easily, demonstrates pink/red skin, suffers from asthma, and allergies.

Sensitized skin is due to the environment, lifestyle and the way your body processes what it’s exposed to e.g. pollution, stress and chemicals. Certain ingredients found in department and drugstore cleansers and toners can cause over-processed or exfoliated skin, which leads to sensitization.

Both sensitive and sensitized skin can be treated by a combination of gentle facials and using quality home care products. When the skin is in crisis (red, sun burnt, rashy, inflamed or flakey), my favorite products to recommend is our Cherry Life Saver. I also believe that less-is-more, in times of skin stress, so I would suggest using a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and SPF (along with the Cherry) until the problem is resolved.
